Recently, Vail has extensively changed the building code.
They have adopted the 2009 IECC as well as the 2009 IBC with several amendments. They have kept the 2008 National Electrical Code, with amendments.
In addition to the 2009 code, the Town of Vail has adopted the Uniform Abatement Code as well as the International Performance Code.
Mechanical
- Vail has amended the IECC so that the maximum fenestration U-value is 0.3 for all one and two family dwelling units.
- Pool covers are always required, even if the pool is heated with renewable energy systems.
- Vail has amended the IMC so that all ski shop repair rooms must have a ventilation system exhausting a minimum of 1.5 CFM/SF
Plumbing
- Fire pits require automatic shut-off controls with a 30-minute maximum timer. Maximum gas supply line to a fire pit shall be ¾".
